HOUSTON, December 3, 2009 — Wood Group, the international energy services company, has been honored by EHS Today, the magazine for environment, health and safety leaders, for having one of America’s Safest Companies for 2009. A Wood Group GTS business was one of eight companies named by the magazine’s editors to the 2009 list of America's Safest Companies from over 100 companies that applied this year. Together, these companies provide a safe working environment for thousands of employees.

Mark Papworth, CEO of Wood Group GTS said: “This recognition is a notable achievement for our employees, as well as a highly visible demonstration of our performance in health and safety. The safety and wellbeing of our employees, and care of our environment, are at the heart of Wood Group GTS’ business principles. We are very proud of this accomplishment.”

To be considered one of America’s Safest Companies, organizations must demonstrate support from management and employee involvement; innovative solutions to safety challenges; injury and illness rates lower than the average for their industries; comprehensive training programs; evidence that prevention of incidents is the cornerstone of the safety process; good communication about the value of safety; and a way to substantiate the benefits of the safety process.

Sandy Smith, executive editor of EHS Today stated: “Wood Group’s business won this award because it has an exemplary safety process that is supported by all employees, from executive management to line employees. The judges particularly were impressed by the company’s Frontline Focus program, in which senior managers spend 16 hours at the plant level working on EHS commitments, and the Personal Safety Performance Contracts for offthejobsafety, which encourage employees to make safety a habit on and off the job.”
