Francisco Prego

Technical Support Engineer, Wood Group Production Facilities, Aberdeen

Francisco PregoHere's what I like the most about Wood Group: exposure to different international opportunities. Coming from Latin America, that's normally our whole focus. But I know the world is a much larger place in which to learn and grow, professionally and personally. So far at Wood Group I've worked in Colombia, Trinidad & Tobago and Scotland. And now I'm assigned to cover the Middle East.

I started with the company right after graduating from Universidad Metropolitana Caracas, in Wood Group's three-year International Development Programme. The company's global scope has had me going hands-on with different jobs and benefiting from networking around the world at the same time. In three years, I've gotten a far better understanding of how to create better business relationships.

My current assignment is production facilities project management and technical support plus a lot of business development. I'm looking for new clients in territories where the company hasn't worked before.

This is nothing like I had in mind when I was growing up. My new projects are fascinating, especially from the operations & maintenance point of view. Wood Group gives me flexibility and hard, rewarding work with plenty of fresh thinking.

That leads to benefit number two: I rely on a team that I've come to see as a family - colleagues and friends in the same business situation. So I have grown used to thinking of Wood Group as the "family business"…good people working in different areas of the company.
