Apprenticeship Opportunities

Each year Wood Group PSN takes on a large number of trainee designers for its UK offices (Aberdeen, Glasgow, Hull & Runcorn). Trainees will complete a three-year modern apprenticeship programme in either structural, piping or electrical / instrumentation design. This includes six weeks of intensive design training at our in-house Design Academy; extensive on-the-job training; specific training and development in the chosen field and an SVQ in design and draughting (awarded by ECITB).

Wood Group PSN offers a number of apprenticeship opportunities on the Upstream Oil and Gas Technicians Training Scheme (UOGTTS), through the ECITB. This is a four-year apprenticeship scheme, where the first two-years are spent at college obtaining a HNC in either mechanical, electrical or instrumentation engineering.

A career as an upstream oil & gas technician is like no other. Mentally and often physically demanding, it offers serious responsibility combined with the exhilaration of working offshore.

Rolls Wood Group (part of our GTS division) delivers an engineering Modern Apprenticeship Programme over a four year period based in Aberdeen. This comprises of one year off-the-job training in the Training Centre Workshop facility in followed by three years on-the-job training and assessment to National Occupational Standards in the respective company workshops.

Wood Group PSN offers a three-year scheme involving placements in each of the main Project Control disciplines - cost, planning and estimating, and may also include periods in areas such as Supply Chain, Business Development and Business Systems functions.

During this time you will follow a structured development path that will offer on-the-job training combined with mentoring and support from senior members of staff.

This programme is open to all school leavers.
