What types of job opportunities are available with Wood Group?

In addition, we provide apprenticeships in engineering (mechanical/aeronautical) and design (structural, mechanical/piping and electrical/instrument). We also offer some internship and scholarship opportunities.

When would I start?

Most of our graduates start by September, but this will vary across positions.

Rolls Wood Group apprentices typically commence in July.

Wood Group PSN Trainee Designers typically start with us in January and July.

What qualifications do I need to apply?

For our engineering graduate roles, you will need an engineering-related degree, preferably at Masters level from an accredited university. For commercial graduate roles we look for a good first or second class degree in a relevant business/management discipline. Our Modern Apprenticeship with Rolls Wood Group requires a minimum of Grade 3 in English and Grade 2 in Maths and Physics (Standard Grade).

To apply for our trainee designer apprenticeship, as a minimum you will need a HNC or HND in a relevant engineering discipline. While your academic achievement is important, we also value the transferable skills, qualities and experience you can bring.

Does Wood Group recruit graduates and apprentices who require work permits?

We accept applications from applicants who are currently a member of the European Economic Area (EEA), or living, working or studying in the EEA or have done so in the last 12 months. If you are successful in being offered a job with us, we will support you in your application for a work permit. Please note, that we cannot guarantee that you will be granted this work permit by the UK Home Office.

Visit the UK Border Agency website to understand the full requirements to apply for a work permit. Wood Group supports certificate of sponsorship applications for non EEA members / residents to work in the UK. However due to the number of relevant applications already received from EEA members, we would be unable to meet certificate of sponsorship requirements in compliance with UK immigration regulations. Therefore on that basis we are unable to progress such applications at this time.

I have previously applied and been unsuccessful, can I re-apply?

Yes, you may re-apply. You will need to complete a new application form and we will be looking to see if you have enhanced your skills and experience since your last application.

When can I expect to hear from Wood Group after I apply?

You can expect to hear from us with an outcome approximately 1 - 2 months after the position’s closing date, once all applications have been received and reviewed by our experienced recruiting team. Please check your email accounts regularly for any communications or updates as this will be our primary method of communication.

We recognise that people are our biggest asset and we also believe that graduates and apprentices are a key part of our strategic aim for continued growth. Therefore, whatever discipline and business unit you may join, we will ensure that you receive the right experience, exposure and training to develop your competencies. This is achieved through extensive on-the-job learning, as well as technical and business skills training.

We are also affiliated to most associated institutions (e.g. IChemE, IMechE, IET, IStructE, APM and ECITB), and will help you toward gaining your Charteredship or professional qualification. Upon successful completion of your programme, there will be various opportunities to continue your development and career with us.
