Taking place at the Training, conference & Exhibition Galveston, Texas, USA

The leading conference for training, safe unit operation, and production optimization within the delayed coking, fluid catalytic cracking, solvent deasphalting, and sulfur production and processing units.

In today’s market, refiners need to improve profitability by maximising the production of transportation fuels. Wood’s SYDECSM (selective-yield delayed coking) technology is a commercially proven residue upgrading technology that offers strong economic impact, provides feedstock and product flexibility, and is highly reliable with long periods between turnarounds.

Wood has designed and engineered more delayed coking units worldwide than any other technology provider or engineering contractor. Our SYDECSM (selective yield delayed coking) technology combined with our robust technical components and an 80 year history in delayed coking design, helps to cement our position as a market leader in this area.

Although our SYDECSM technology is well-proven, we continually look for ways to improve and adapt to changing market conditions thereby maximising return on investment with the existing asset.

Wood SYDECSM technology is a proven technology that can support our client’s energy transition objectives. Technology innovations include:

  1. Repurposing existing delayed coking units to produce needle coke required for making synthetic graphite - a key component for Li-ion batteries used in electric vehicle (EV).
  2. Processing plastic waste to help improve heater run length and reduce foaming in coke drums while reducing the global plastic waste and playing a more active role in circular economy.
  3. Combining SYDECSM technology with our well proven Solvent Deasphalting (SDA) technology to increase residue conversion and allowing for reduced carbon footprint.
  4. Optimizing existing assets with decarbonization solutions.
