Mala advanced from Human Resources Manager to Chief Operations Officer before assuming her current role as the company's CEO. Beyond her corporate leadership, Mala is deeply committed to shaping the future of the local energy industry.

She currently serves as Chair of the Trinidad and Tobago Energy Chamber, where she plays a pivotal role in fostering industry collaboration, advocating for investment and driving initiatives that support a sustainable energy sector.

Under her leadership, Massy Wood continues to thrive - championing its core values of safety, people, quality, ethics and passion and staying true to its mission: ‘Creating value, transforming lives.’

Committed to developing in-country value

99% of Massy Wood’s employees are local to the region, completing training programmes to foster a skilled talent pool. Employee development includes one-on-one leadership coaching, trade and craft upskilling, internal technical assessments, supervisory development and hands-on mentoring via a shadow programme - all supported by a blend of in-person and online professional training.

Massy Wood’s commitment to building in-country value extends beyond employee development to cultivating the next generation of energy professionals. Through structured graduate and internship programs in Trinidad and Guyana, the company is actively shaping a skilled, future-ready workforce.

In Trinidad, Massy Wood’s Graduate Development Program continues to grow with cohorts of young professionals joining across disciplines such as engineering, construction, quality and commercial. These graduates rotate through key business areas, gaining exposure to real-world challenges and solutions. Their development is closely supported through regular check-ins, progress reviews and feedback sessions, complemented by business skills workshops. Each graduate also completes a sustainability-focused project, reinforcing Massy Wood’s commitment to responsible innovation.

In Guyana, Massy Wood partners with the University of Guyana to offer a six-month engineering internship program. Interns in electrical, mechanical and civil disciplines work alongside experienced professionals on live projects, gaining hands-on experience and technical insight. The programme also includes site visits to Massy Wood’s operations in Trinidad.

Massy Wood also supports local businesses and communities by prioritising local sourcing and procurement, building strong supply chains and strengthening community stakeholder partnerships to ensure economic benefits remain within the region.
