Wood has supported Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) since 2017, delivering over 200 brownfield engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects and 25 turnarounds, as part of BSP’s offshore asset rejuvenation programme.

In 2025, Wood and Tendrill Sdn Bhd came together to form TendrillWood, providing integrated EPC services across BSP’s offshore and onshore assets on end-to-end projects delivery.

Wood’s joint venture in Brunei, TendrillWood, has successfully completed its first offshore project and turnaround under the BSP EPC contract, demonstrating the value of trusted local delivery supported by a highly skilled national workforce.

Taking place across three offshore platforms, the turnaround included piping, mechanical, structural, electrical and instrumentation work to support corrective maintenance, debottlenecking and riser advance tie-ins, helping enhance asset integrity, production performance and operational efficiency.

The campaign was completed safely, on time and within budget, despite significant weather disruption. The 600-strong team adapted the schedule several times to maintain progress, while keeping safety and quality at the centre of delivery.

Key outcomes included 248,800 incident free safe working hours, 816 safety observations submitted and three emergency drills. The project was also completed with zero outstanding actions, underlining the strength of the team’s preparation and execution.

The success of the turnaround demonstrates the strength of TendrillWood’s delivery model in Brunei. It builds on Wood’s established in-country presence and local project delivery expertise from the BSP Rejuvenation project, supported by regional and global SMEs, and combines this with Tendrill’s fabrication and installation capability and skilled local workforce. Together, this partnership is helping develop sustainable in-country capability to support BSP’s offshore assets and Brunei’s wider energy sector over the long term.

A defining feature of the turnaround was the role of TendrillWood’s Brunei-based workforce. From TAR planning and readiness through to offshore execution and delivery support, local capability was central to the campaign’s success.

The joint venture employs approximately 400 people, around 70% of whom are Bruneian, and continues to invest in local skills development and the regional supply chain.

The successful delivery of BSP’s turnaround reinforces TendrillWood’s role as a trusted partner for complex offshore work in Brunei. It shows how local capability and close client collaboration can help support the long-term integrity and reliability of the country’s offshore energy infrastructure.
